Mission Statement

“IPHS was organized in 1978 and incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation in the State of Indiana in 1984 “to obtain and preserve information pertaining to post offices, postmasters, government and private mail service, and postal routes, rates, stamps, envelopes, covers, postmarks, and other markings, operations and practices during the history of the State of Indiana and the territory which preceded it; to obtain and preserve books, documents, and tangibles pertinent to Indiana postal history, to promote public education and information regarding Indiana postal history, by publishing a journal or booklets, pamphlets, or other articles concerning same.” (From the Bylaws of the Indiana Postal History Society, Inc.)"
